The 1000 Hours. The order matters.
You do not need to buy anything to start.
Understand the argument. Get your coin off the exchange. Check the number yourself. That is the whole path, and the order on this page is the order it works in.
01Read the thesis.
Bitcoin is digital capital. Everything else being built on top of it is paper. That is the lens, and every story on the board is an application of it. It takes ten minutes, and it is the reason the next three steps are in this order.
It closes with the four characters who read every story on the board. Pick yours before step 02.
02The canon.
The next thousand hours of your Bitcoin education have already been mapped. By four voices, in four registers, across the three domains that decide whether you keep your coins or lose them.
Every book links to Amazon. Every podcast opens in the player of your choice. Every video is time-stamped. Read the order.
Pick the character whose lens matches how you already think about money. Read that column top to bottom. Then read the next one.

Meta-reading — how to read Bitcoin
- Read the Bitcoin whitepaper first. It’s nine pages. Print it. Mark it up. Come back to it every year.
- Follow the four characters on X. They argue with each other in public. Watching the argument teaches you more than any single voice.
- Run your own node. You’ll learn more about Bitcoin in the first hour of running your own node than in ten books. Step 04 says why.
- Buy your first sats on non-KYC rails. The privacy premium is education, not paranoia.
03Get your keys.
An exchange balance is not bitcoin. It is a claim on bitcoin.
The number on your exchange screen is a line in their database that says they owe you some. The coin itself sits in a wallet the exchange controls, mixed in with everyone else’s, and you get it when they decide to honour the claim. That is the same arrangement as a banknote in 1797, and the thesis is about what happened to the people who held the note instead of the gold. The difference is that the Bank of England had an excuse.
Holding your own keys means the coin sits behind a secret only you hold, and no company has to say yes for you to move it. The coin has no bills. Your keys have no margin call. Understand the difference between a claim and the thing before you decide whether to keep holding a claim. That is the step. We name no products here and we sell none.
04Run a node.
Everything the thesis rests on comes down to one number: twenty-one million.
A node is a computer running the Bitcoin software. It checks every transaction and every block against the rules, including that one, and rejects anything that breaks them. When you run one, you are not taking anyone’s word for what Bitcoin is doing. Not a website’s, not a company’s, not ours. The answer comes from your own machine.
That is what verifying means. Bitcoin’s motto is not a mood. It is an instruction, and most of the people who repeat it have never once acted on it. Don’t trust. Verify. The software is free. That is as far as this page goes.
Then keep reading.
The board at mempolitics.com is the daily read. The newsletter is the week in one send. The shop is where you wear it.
