BITCOIN ETFS BLED $449 MILLION IN THREE SESSIONS — ARK 21SHARES WAS $164 MILLION OF THURSDAY'S $282.56 MILLION — ONE ISSUER WAS 58% OF THE DAY
American spot bitcoin funds have now had three losing sessions in a row. $449 million out the door, $282.56 million of it on Thursday alone, with bitcoin trading near $77,000. Ether and solana funds went negative too. XRP funds were the only ones that took money in.
The number worth keeping is not the $449 million. It is the $164 million. That is ARK 21Shares by itself, out of a $282.56 million day. One issuer was 58% of the outflow. This was not the market leaving. This was one fund's holders leaving, and the tape reported it as everybody.
That is worth saying plainly because the ETF is now how most people meet bitcoin, and the ETF has an owner, a ticker, a distribution channel and a set of holders who did not necessarily choose bitcoin so much as choose a line on a brokerage statement. When those holders sell in a block, the print says 'bitcoin ETF outflows' and the reader hears something about bitcoin.
Nothing happened to bitcoin on Thursday. The supply schedule did not move. Blocks came every ten minutes. 21 million is still 21 million. What moved was $164 million of somebody else's product, and the difference between those two sentences is the entire reason to hold the coin rather than the wrapper.
