THE WORLD’S BIGGEST ASSET MANAGER PICKS A LANE — MITCHNICK: RISK-OFF IS “THE NARRATIVE TO BET ON” — RECORD UP-WEEK VOLUME SAYS THE CLIENTS AGREE

The firm that runs the world’s biggest Bitcoin fund put its read on the record. Robbie Mitchnick, BlackRock’s head of digital assets, told CNBC that debt-and-deficit worry is what’s driving Bitcoin now — and that in the long run, the risk-off story is “the narrative to bet on.” He called the asset a “global scarce decentralized emerging monetary alternative,” which is the longest way anyone has yet found to say hard money. The receipts run with him: 439 million IBIT shares traded last week, a record for any positive week since the fund launched, alongside $1.33 billion of weekly inflows — and Bitcoin’s correlation to the Nasdaq has fallen to about 0.3, near multi-year lows, while it trades like gold through the debasement talk. His quietest line was the sharpest: the CLARITY Act matters less for Bitcoin than for the rest of crypto, because Bitcoin already has the regulatory clarity it needs. The Capitalist read: when the manager of the fund says the asset inside it is the fiscal hedge, that is not marketing — that is the client book talking. Record volume in an up week is conviction buying, not tourists. The debt worry is not going away, and neither is the bid built on it.
