O’LEARY SAYS BITCOIN HITS $1 MILLION — IF THE QUANTUM DOUBT GOES AWAY — EVERY QUANTUM FIX IS STILL MARKED DRAFT
Kevin O’Leary told The Rollup podcast at the Avalanche Summit in New York on September 17 that bitcoin gets to $1 million on one condition: “It will, if it can resolve the doubt creeping in around quantum computing.” He has said before that big institutions will not go past about 3 percent in bitcoin until the quantum question is settled. BeInCrypto dates that remark to February.
Read it as an allocator, not a fan. If quantum is the lid on the 3 percent, the lid comes off when a fix is running on the network, not when someone promises one. On September 20 this board went through the fixes. BIP 360 and BIP 361 both still say Draft, and Glassnode counts 6.04 million coins sitting where the public key already shows. None of it has been adopted.
So the $1 million call is really a call on bitcoin’s slowest, most careful process moving faster than it ever has. A price target with a condition is a bet on the condition. At the time of this writing, bitcoin was $85,997.
