PHONG LE ON FOX BUSINESS — STRATEGY BUYING 175K BTC THIS YEAR, WORLD'S LARGEST INSTITUTIONAL HOLDER, JPMORGAN OF THE DIGITAL ECONOMY
"I joined @LizClaman on @FoxBusiness to discuss Strategy buying 175K Bitcoin this year to be the world’s largest institutional holder of Bitcoin. We are the JPMorgan of the digital economy." — @phongle, 2:28 PM ET Mon Aug 10.
Phong Le went on Fox Business with Liz Claman at 2:28 PM ET Monday and framed Strategy’s year in one line: 175,000 Bitcoin purchased this year, world’s largest institutional holder, JPMorgan of the digital economy. This is the strategic-accumulation frame Strategy has been telegraphing since Q1 2026 and now landed on national business TV six hours after the morning 8-K disclosed 3,328 BTC out of the treasury.
THE MORNING RECONCILED
The Aug 3 sale of 1,638 BTC + intervening ~1,690 BTC out = tactical preferred-dividend cover. USD Duration extended 143 days to 2.7 years today. $109M STRC preferred repurchased. That’s the fortress mode. And now Phong on Fox Business says the year-end target is 175K net acquired. If both are true, Strategy needs to buy ~178K BTC in the remaining months to net 175K after these disclosed sales. That’s the tape to watch.
The two data points don’t contradict — they resolve the morning question. This morning we read the 3,328 BTC decline over 14 days as fortress-plus-buyback (cap-structure defense over accumulation). Phong’s Fox Business framing reveals the full picture: the 3,328 out was tactical dividend-cover, and the 175K annual accumulation target is the strategic mandate. Strategy is doing both. The flywheel isn’t dead; it’s running through a cap-structure defensive posture.
‘JPMORGAN OF THE DIGITAL ECONOMY’
Notable that Phong picked JPMorgan as the target identity. Not Berkshire, not Blackstone, not Goldman. JPMorgan is the flagship US bank — the flow-of-retail-dollars institution. Strategy claiming this identity means the addressable market is not the wrapper-class investor buying an MSTR share; it’s the operator-class corporation using Strategy’s cap-structure as their Bitcoin exposure rail.
‘JPMorgan of the digital economy’ is the more consequential frame. JPMorgan the bank is the flagship institution of dollar-based finance. Strategy positioning as that same institution for Bitcoin means the pitch to Wall Street operators is: this is the bank equivalent for the hardest money. The Capitalist tier read: the corporate identity Strategy is claiming is the one operators would need to route retail flow through Bitcoin the same way JPMorgan routes retail flow through dollars. Whether they earn the identity is a separate question. The claim itself is now on the record on Fox Business.
The 8-K said 3,328 out.
The CEO said 175K in.
Fortress and flywheel are both running.
Livingston’s math still holds.
