ADAM IZA PAID FIVE LA DEPUTIES — HIS 78 MONTHS RUN INSIDE A 15-YEAR BITCOIN ROBBERY TERM

Adam Iza was sentenced on Monday, October 5, 2026, to 78 months in federal prison in Los Angeles and ordered to pay $23,402,766 in restitution. He pleaded guilty to conspiracy against rights, wire fraud and tax evasion. The Justice Department says he took more than $37 million from Meta between December 2020 and September 2024 through its business manager accounts, and hid income by moving it to cryptocurrency custodians.

The part that matters for anyone holding keys is what he paid for. Iza hired off-duty Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies to pull confidential law enforcement records, personal data and court-approved search warrants on people he was fighting with. Five of those now-former deputies stand convicted. Prosecutors wrote in their sentencing memo: “Individuals with substantial financial resources must understand that they cannot purchase access to confidential databases, investigative tools, warrants, arrests, badges, or firearms for use in private disputes.”

The bitcoin is in his other case. In Connecticut, Iza pleaded guilty in June to a robbery conspiracy. Prosecutors there say he and others planned an attempt to steal bitcoin that ended on August 25, 2024 with the carjacking of a Lamborghini Urus in Danbury and the kidnapping of its two riders, the parents of a man prosecutors say took part in the theft of hundreds of millions of dollars in bitcoin. He got 15 years for it in September. The new 78 months runs at the same time, so it adds no time.

The threat model here is not a stranger with a wrench. It is a man with money who can rent a badge, a database and a warrant to learn where a holder’s family lives. Every record that ties a name to a balance is a map, and this case shows who can buy one. At the time of this writing, bitcoin was $86,077.
