OPEN INTEREST HITS $140 BILLION — THE RALLY IS RENTING ITS CONVICTION

Bitcoin open interest hit a record $140.9 billion as price whipped from $81,255 down to $78,600 and back to $79,000 inside a Tuesday session, with 24-hour liquidations up 128%. Analyst Aria Naka: “the market is again approaching a critical psychological zone.” Record open interest is not conviction; it is leverage, and leverage cuts both ways. The Technologist read: the coins in cold storage do not move on a $3,000 candle — the paper stacked on top of them does. Open interest measures how much borrowed opinion is sitting on the network, not how much of the network anyone actually holds. The bigger that number, the sharper the squeeze, in whichever direction breaks first.
