On Friday the Fraternal Order of Police flipped to support the CLARITY Act — but only after wallet-level surveillance authority was preserved in the final markup. On Thursday the State Department’s new Freedom Tech Excellence Program named its inaugural partners: the Bitcoin Policy Institute alongside Palantir and Anduril. On Wednesday, nine of the largest institutional Bitcoin holders launched the Bitcoin Security Consortium and put $15M on the table for — in the language of the announcement — “coordinated engagement on protocol governance.” Three different actors. One week. One frame. The Maximalist read: state endorsement is not neutral endorsement. Cops got surveillance.
