FOR YOUR SAFETY — POLICE UNION FLIPS ON CLARITY, STATE DEPT LAUNCHES “FREEDOM TECH” WITH PALANTIR AND ANDURIL, NINE BIG HOLDERS BUY THE ROADMAP FOR $15M. THE STATE JUST TOLD YOU BITCOIN IS SAFE.
Three Bitcoin endorsements landed inside seven days, all under the same rhetorical banner: for your safety. On Friday the Fraternal Order of Police flipped to support the CLARITY Act — but only after wallet-level surveillance authority was preserved in the final markup. On Thursday the State Department’s new Freedom Tech Excellence Program named its inaugural partners: the Bitcoin Policy Institute alongside Palantir and Anduril. On Wednesday, nine of the largest institutional Bitcoin holders launched the Bitcoin Security Consortium and put $15M on the table for — in the language of the announcement — “coordinated engagement on protocol governance.” Three different actors. One week. One frame. The Maximalist read: state endorsement is not neutral endorsement. Cops got surveillance. The State Department got media cover to embed the surveillance-industrial complex inside a Bitcoin-branded program. The largest holders bought seats at the protocol table. Not your keys is a scaling doctrine now: not your protocol either. The endorsement wave and the capture wave are the same wave. When the state tells you the hardest money is safe, it means safe for the state.
