LEDGER TOLD RESELLERS IN SEVEN ASIAN MARKETS TO PULL ITS WALLETS OFF THE SHELVES — NO OUTLET SAYS HOW MANY DEVICES — THE LOSS FIGURE IS STILL IN DISPUTE

Ledger posted an incident update on X on October 13, 2026 asking resellers and distributors in Southeast Asia and Hong Kong to “suspend sales of Ledger devices while the investigation is ongoing.” Decrypt quotes the next line: “This includes taking products off the shelves.” Decrypt and Bitcoin.com list the same seven markets: Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia and Hong Kong. Earlier the same day, European chain MediaMarkt Saturn halted Ledger sales after one customer in Germany reported finding an implant.

The trigger is the Cryptobilis case, where devices sold through one reseller are tied to drained wallets. The outlets don't agree on the loss. Decrypt carries more than $86 million, traced by onchain investigator Specter, a figure Ledger has not verified. Bitcoin.com carries up to $93.4 million. That number is unsettled. Neither outlet says how many devices or resellers the request covers.

Ledger's Donjon team said on October 13 that the implant it found reads the screen and leaves the secure element alone. The chip that holds the key was fine. The screen it shows your seed on was not. A buyer can't open the case to check for that, so the check falls to whoever handled the box before you did. Ledger just took seven markets of those hands out of the chain.

Buying from the maker shortens the chain. It doesn't let you check the device. Until a buyer can verify the hardware in hand, a hardware wallet is a trust in everyone who shipped it. At the time of this writing, bitcoin was $81,910.
