ROBINHOOD PUTS $25 MILLION OF BITCOIN ON ITS OWN BALANCE SHEET — ITS CRYPTO CHIEF SAYS IT WON’T CHANGE THE COMPANY’S TRAJECTORY — AGAINST A $100 BILLION MARKET CAP IT IS 0.025%
Robinhood has put $25 million of bitcoin on its own balance sheet, Johann Kerbrat, its senior vice president and general manager of crypto and international, said on The Block’s The Starting Block at Digital Asset Summit Asia. The Block and CoinDesk reported it on October 7, 2026. He gave no coin count, no purchase dates and no price. There is no filing yet. CoinDesk says it asked Robinhood’s press team about plans to buy more.
Kerbrat framed it himself: “We care deeply about bitcoin and the ecosystem around it.” And: “Robinhood is a massive company at this point, with a market cap in the $100 billion [range]. So the $25 million worth of bitcoin is not going to change a lot of the current trajectory of the company.” He is right on the math. $25 million against about $100 billion is 0.025%.
Who carries the risk: Robinhood’s shareholders, with a position too small to move a quarter either way. The bitcoin that matters on Robinhood’s books has always been the customers’. Its June 30 quarterly report says “We are also responsible for the custody of user-held cryptocurrencies.” Customer trading is where Robinhood’s crypto revenue comes from. Bitcoin Magazine estimates the $25 million at about 294 BTC; Robinhood has not said.
A signal is worth what it costs the sender. This one costs a rounding error and buys goodwill with the people Robinhood sells crypto trading to. Watch the next 10-Q for the line item, the cost basis, and who holds the company’s own coins. At the time of this writing, bitcoin was $82,885.
