STRATEGY BENCHES THE BITCOIN BUTTON, HOARDS $4.8 BILLION CASH — STOCK RIPS TO A TWO-MONTH HIGH ANYWAY

Strategy hasn’t bought a single bitcoin in two months, and that’s the tell. This isn’t a company losing its nerve — it’s a company doing what any operator does when a piece of its stock is bleeding: stop spending, build the cash pile, protect the machine. STRC, the preferred stock built to trade near $100, fell below $70 during the summer selloff. Miss that target long enough and everything else Strategy owes gets more expensive to carry. So the company put the checkbook away, let cash reserves climb to $4.8 billion, and spent its money on STRC dividends and buybacks instead of new coins. It worked. STRC is back above $96, within shouting distance of par for the first time since June, and MSTR shares popped 7.5% to a two-month high, over $120, while bitcoin ran to $79,400. None of that changes what the company actually owns: 840,447 bitcoin, worth about $65 billion, sitting untouched on the books the whole time. The stock moved because the machine looks steady again, not because anyone bought a new coin. Owning the stock is a bet on the operator. Owning the bitcoin is the operator’s entire job.
