TRUMP’S ACCOUNTS BOUGHT STRATEGY TWICE IN LATE JULY, THREE DAYS APART — THE SECOND BUY WAS FIFTY TIMES THE FIRST — THE WHITE HOUSE SAYS NOBODY IN THE FAMILY PICKS THE TRADES

A periodic transaction report covering July trades became public on September 22. Inside it are two purchases of Strategy stock, in accounts naming Donald Trump as the beneficiary. The first, on July 24, in the $1,001 to $15,000 range. The second, on July 27, in the $50,001 to $100,000 range. Three days apart, and the second one is up to fifty times the size of the first.

Strategy closed at $91.67 on the first date and $98.65 on the second. It closed at $167.33 on September 22. That is an 82 percent gain on the July 24 buy and 70 percent on the July 27 buy, counted from those two closes. Bitcoin.com reports the stock had traded in the high $180s in May and bottomed at $81.81, which puts the first purchase within ten dollars of the low.

The same outlet reports the accounts were selling Strategy before that. Two sales on June 23 and June 24 totaling between $16,002 and $65,000, and another on July 8 between $1,001 and $15,000. Sell through June, buy the last week of July. Only Bitcoin.com carries that part, so treat the sequence as one outlet's reading of the filing until someone else reads it too.

The White House told CNBC that the portfolio is managed independently by third-party institutions, without input from Trump or his family. That is the claim on the record. The trades are also on the record. Both things can be true and the filing still shows what it shows. At the time of this writing, bitcoin was $84,543.
