POLYMARKET PULLS ITS NFL BETS ONE DAY BEFORE LAUNCH — SAME WEEK IT GETS THE CFTC’S OK ON BITCOIN — SPORTS STAYS STUCK, BITCOIN WALKS THROUGH THE FRONT DOOR

Read this one like a filing, because that is exactly what it is. On August 25, Polymarket US certified two NFL player-participation contracts with the CFTC — bets on whether Patrick Mahomes takes a single snap. One day before launch, the exchange pulled them. No explanation on the record. That same week, Polymarket US self-certified three new price contracts: Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana, each fully collateralized at a dollar, settled against CF Benchmarks data instead of one exchange’s tape. The question on the ticket reads exactly like a filing too: “Will the value of Bitcoin be above $95,000.00 at 2:30 PM ET on August 31, 2026?” Launch is set for August 28. Sports contracts keep tripping the same wire — state gaming law, player-safety optics, something the exchange won’t put on paper. Bitcoin price contracts do not trip it. They settle against a published benchmark, on a fixed clock, with no athlete’s name attached. An allocator does not need a theory for why one got pulled and the other got a green light. The paperwork already says it: Bitcoin is the product that clears.
