STRC’S 30-DAY VOLATILITY IS 9.1%, BELOW SPY — STRATEGY’S OWN PAGE PUTS THE ONE-YEAR FIGURE AT 22.1% — THE 30 DAYS INCLUDE A $151.7 MILLION BUYBACK BELOW PAR
Michael Saylor posted on October 3, 2026 that STRC's "30-day historical volatility is now 9%, below $SPY." Strategy's STRC page, with market data as of 4 PM ET on October 2, shows 9.1% for 30 days. The same page shows 22.1% for one year.
We checked the comparison we could check. SPY's daily closes from September 2 to October 2 work out to about 10.3% to 10.7% a year, depending on where the window starts. Strategy's chart says 10%. That part holds. The STRC figure is Strategy's own.
Follow the money inside that window. Strategy's 8-K filed September 28 shows it bought back 1,534,530 STRC shares for $151.7 million from September 21 to 27, about $98.86 a share, under the $100 par. $103.5 million of that came from selling new MSTR stock. Buying back your own preferred when it slips under par is one way to keep its price calm.
STRC closed October 2 at $99.41 and pays 12% a year. A calm month is a calm month. The one-year number is the one that includes the rough ones. At the time of this writing, bitcoin was $84,896.
